The recession did hit Greece hard but the nightlife in Athens is definitely always buzzing. There are so many interesting popular that are available for anyone that wants to have fun, most of them being located quite close to Syntagma Square, right in the middle of the city.
Brettos
Located at Kidathineon 41 and opened daily from 10 AM to 2 AM, Brettos is well-renowned for its owners making the own liqueur in over 30 flavors, with lemon, mastiha and cherry as being the most popular. People can easily take a bar stool, enjoy some great drinks and have a lot of fun as they are entertained or as they simply analyze everything in the bar.
Galaxy Bar
This bar is located in the Hilton Hotel’s top floor, on Vassilissis Sofias Avenue, at number 46. You want to visit at night because of the wonderful views of the Acropolis. This is an amazing place to see the city at night and various pricey and exquisite cocktails are available. We really loved Jupiter, which includes champagne, gin, mint and cucumber. The open-air terrace is preferred by most during the summer. Sometimes, there are celebrity DJs that have concerts and the bar is open until early morning, but usually closes at 3 or 4 AM.
TAF – The Art Foundation
TAF is a wonderful place to go to at night, located at 5 Normanou. What is very interesting here is that drinks are combined with contemporary art, all in a very attractive and cozy courtyard garden that has awnings that create roofs during winter. There are various painting exhibitions that are shown on a regular basis, together with photography and sculpture. The courtyard’s center is one of the really cool bars that have to be visited during the night.
Seven Jokers
If you are young and are looking for tremendous after-hours drinking opportunities, you will want to head over to Voulis 7 for the Seven Jokers experience. The crowd here is quite young and many enjoy the cocktails that are offered. The music choice is quite diversified, usually focused on classics like Rolling Stones or Ella Fitzgerald. This is quite a small bar but it is always packed. You have to book in advance or there is a pretty good possibility that you will not find a free table, especially during the night.
Island
Since summer is here and Athens is such a hot tourist attraction, it is obvious that there are many interesting clubs that you can go to. One that is definitely attractive, hot and to be checked out is Island. It is highly celebrated, has a lovely décor and the sea-view terrace is one that you will simply adore. Besides the clubbing, visitors can also enjoy various dishes. The music here ranges from mainstream to ethnic, based on the schedule.
