Dubrovnik offers many restaurants to choose from, and here are a few of my personal favourites:
Pantarul in Lapad is an authentic Adriatic tavern with memorabilia on its walls and simple tables, offering delicious seafood options like the Glorijet platter, lobster pasta or Veal fillet in Dubrovnik Malvasia sauce.

At this eatery, the atmosphere is classic Adriatic: memorabilia and photos hung from stone walls contrast beautifully with simple tables. There is also an inviting ground-floor terrace where guests can sit to dine. The menu can vary daily according to what local seafood is available – popular items include the Glorijet (fish) platter, Tagliatelle with Shrimp or Catch of the Day dishes.
As would be expected from a Michelin-star restaurant, the cuisine at this establishment is superb. The ambience is lovely as you overlook the city walls from your table; speciality seafood platters such as grilled octopus or lobster with thyme gnocchi are available and the wine list boasts a rich selection of wines perfect to pair with any meal here.
Konoba Tabak
Foodies looking to experience fine dining will find plenty of restaurants in Dubrovnik suitable. Choose from traditional Dalmatian to Asian cuisine. One of Dubrovnik’s most acclaimed dining spots, Orsan serves local specialities with an exotic touch, such as mussels in white wine sauce, octopus salad, black risotto and fresh oysters; its decor remains contemporary yet relaxed enough.
Nishta, which caters exclusively to vegan and vegetarian diners, is another highly acclaimed Dubrovnik restaurant. Known for its cozy interior, friendly service staff, tasty cuisine and its wonderful rooftop terrace that overlooks Dubrovnik’s ceramic roofs – Nishta has quickly become one of its city’s go-to spots for special dining events and casual dinners alike.
Dubrovnik can present unique challenges for those with gluten allergies when selecting their dining choices, with some offering gluten-free meals while others do not. Celiacs should avoid restaurants serving pasta, fried foods, bread and cheese and check the menu to see which items naturally don’t contain gluten.
Most restaurants in Dubrovnik are reasonably priced, especially for tourists. Aside from seafood and fish dishes, vegetarian choices abound: beans with sausage or sausage-grilled mackerels costs less than 7 EUR while daily dishes (marenda) run between 8 EUR-10 EUR per plate at certain restaurants.
