The Top Ten Places To Visit In Ukraine

Ukraine is a renowned tourist destination.  It is endowed with beautiful sunny beaches, wonderful castles, gorgeous mountain landscapes and much more. In addition, Ukraine is rich in culture and history as well as amazing architecture. There is so much in Ukraine to offer tourists from all facets of life. When you pay a visit to Ukraine you will find many fascinating attractions. In this article, we are going to look at the top ten places to visit in Ukraine.

 

The Carpathian Mountains 

Ukraine is one of the best destinations for ski sport enthusiasts. The Carpathian Mountains located in Western Ukraine is simply the best place for one to enjoy snow as well as ski. These marvelous and wonderful mountains cover around 24 square kilometers. It is a hot tourist destination especially during winter. An awesome and amazing mix of forest meadows and rough rivers and mountain lakes makes the mountains so captivating and attractive to tourists. The Carpathian Mountains receives thousands and thousands of visitors each year. It is a place that you cannot afford to miss to visit when you go to Ukraine. It is also worth mentioning that drinking water is plenty from the mountain streams and brooks.

KYIV

KYIV (KIEV) is the capital city of Ukraine located on the Dnipro River. Ancient Kievan Rus was a center of Baltic and Mediterranean trading routes in the 11th and 12th centuries. The architecture and art of Kyiv are great treasures for Ukraine. One of the most outstanding attractions is the Cathedral of St. Sophia. This is the place where the princes of Kyiv were crowned and has amazing frescoes and mosaics dating back to the 11th century. Other outstanding sites in Kyiv are the Ukrainian Baroque Church of St. Andrew, the Percherska Lavra, the Golden Gate (dating back to 1037), 19th century Cathedral of St. Volodymyr and the list goes on. There is so much to behold in this city. Kyiv was classified in 2004 as a Beta global city. It has a highly developed and well established infrastructure system of public transport.

Lviv 

 

Lviv is a Cultural Center and the most charming and beautiful city in Ukraine. This fabulous city is absolutely wonderful in nature as well as architecture. It has beautiful squares, unique statues, historical museums and classic restaurants that are endowed with breathtaking charm and awesome ambiance. Some of the most striking features in Lviv are the Orthodox Cathedral, the Korniakt Palace, the Armenian Cathedral, Market Square, the Black House, Lviv High Castle, Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet, the Potocki Palace and the list goes on. It is definitely one of the top places you cannot afford to miss when you travel to Ukraine.

Odessa 

 

It is also referred to as the Pearl of the Black Sea and well known for the Odessa Catacombs (a huge labyrinth of underground tunnels). It is the 3rd largest city in Ukraine and the most significant in terms of trade. Odessa’s beautiful climate and sunlit beaches attract thousands of tourists from various parts of the globe year round. With its marvelous architecture, Odessa is simply enchanting.

Yalta 

 

Yalta is a fabulous mountain covered sea side city. It is a prime place to visit in Ukraine. Some of the beautiful things to see in Yalta are Alexander Nevshky Cathedral, Yalta’s Zoo, the Armenian Church, Yalta’s Sea Promenade, the Cable Car in Yalta, Gothic style Castle, Yalta’s Aquarium, Livadia Place, Palace of Bukhara Emir, Park-museum Polyana Skazok and much more.

Poltava 

 

Poltava is a renowned city in Ukraine. It is well known for the rich history it has within its walls as well as beautiful European style. It is a gem of preserved history in Ukraine containing stories of the Battle of Poltava, Peter the Great and Cossack.

Kamyanets-Podilski 

 

It is one of the most famous places in Ukraine because of its wide range architectural attractions. It has fortress fortifications and St. Peter and Paul cathedrals. In addition, it is known because of the ancient castle city hall building.

Chernobyl 

 

It is well known for the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. It is an incredible place to visit in Ukraine. It is now a desolate city.  It is worth mentioning that the nearby city of Prypiat where most of the workers of the Plant were living is a popular tourist destination.

Donetsk

 

It is a cultural center located in Eastern Ukraine loaded with a host of History, Cathedrals as well as Industrial Factories. Donetsk has the best and also the cheapest Ukrainian souvenirs and food.

Sevastopol

It is a Sea Port City and the main hub for Ukrainian Navy. Sevastopol greatest attractions are beaches, the Admirals Burial Vault, the Black Sea Fleet and Museum, Hersonesk National Archeological Reserve, the Panorama Museum and the Diorama Museum.
