A family holiday in Majorca

Europe arguably has the best beaches in the world. While the Canary Islands remain the go to destination for sun worshippers, those shouldn’t forget the Balearic Islands. Majorca, the largest island in the Balearic Islands not only offers gorgeous sandy beaches but a wealth of other fun activities making it perfect for family holidays.

Best Beach

A trip to the beach is a must for any holidays to Majorca. If you could only go to one beach in Majorca, many would be quick to suggest Cala d’Or Beach, Es Trenc Beach offers a much quieter and enjoyable day. Unspoilt and well preserved, the beach offers 2km of soft white sand so there’s plenty of space for everyone. You won’t find much motorised watersport activities which means taking a dip in the crystal clear shallow sea is extremely safe. If you need to stretch your legs, the natural park located behind the beach is a great spot for picnics in the sun. Off the beaten track, you will need a car to get to this paradise.

Coves del Drach

A must see natural wonder, it’s hard to believe some families fail to make time to visit Coves del Drach. Located on the east coast of Majorca, a tour of these magnificent caves is a must. A one hour guided tour leads you around the caves where you will see amazing formations and gorgeous stalactites which only grow 1cm per 100 years. To give you an idea just how large the cave is, it houses a lake! Named after the explorer who found the cave, the tour ends with a spectacular show involving Lake Martel (I won’t spoil the surprise).

Pirates Adventure Show

Pirates may not be something you associate with Majorca, but this a spectacular show you and the family don’t want to miss. The Pirates Adventure Show has been wowing families for almost 30 years now. The show is an impressive mix of action through the form of acrobatics, gymnastics and dancing together with a dash of comedy. Unlike anything else you’re likely to see; Sir Henry Morgan and his brave buccaneers fend off French invaders from their treasure.

Marineland

If your kids are crazy about animals or long for the excitement of Sea World in Florida, Marineland is sure to please them. The theme park is home to a wide variety of mammals, reptiles and birds. The Tropical House transports you to humid rainforests where snakes, iguanas and piranhas to name a few can be found. One of the most popular areas of the park is the aquarium which is home to many species of fish and sharks. There are also three shows – dolphins, exotic birds and sea lions – which showcase the animal’s incredible talents!
